Caroline has a Master of Safety Science (UNSW), a Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hygiene (Deakin) and a Bachelor of Science (Sydney). Caroline is a full member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists, a member of the Safety Institute of Australia, and the Environment Institute of Australia.

She has over fifteen years experience in occupational health, safety and environment in NSW, ACT and Tasmania, working with the R&D industry, government, and in manufacturing and primary industries. Caroline has been Chairman of Australian Standard AS 2982 Laboratory Design and Construction since 1996, and is a technical adviser to the committee responsible for drafting AS 2243 Safety in Laboratories.

As CSIRO's national OHS&E Manager, Caroline developed OHS and Environmental Management Systems for CSIRO. She was responsible for coordinating the implementation of these systems across CSIROs property portfolio Australia wide. She also managed a team of ten regional Health, Safety and Environment specialists providing internal OHS&E and rehabilitation consultancy services to CSIRO Australia wide.

Caroline has a special interest in developing and implementing OHS and Environment Management Systems, designing OHS&E performance measurement programs to suit clients needs, and safe laboratory facility design. Caroline has experience in the provision of a range of services to both large complex and small organisations including:

  • OHS&E policy and program development and implementation
  • OHS&E performance measurement
  • Workplace audits and inspections
  • Employee, supervisor and management OHS&E training
  • Indoor air quality monitoring
