Martyn has a Diploma in Safety Management (Occupational Hygiene) and a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) Massey University. He is also a SafetyMAP Auditor, a qualified Workplace Trainer and Assessor and an Internal Quality Auditor. Martyn is a provisional member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists.

Martyn has eight years experience consulting in OH&S, Occupational Hygiene and Training. Martyn has provided a range of services to Tasmanian industries and organisations including:

Martyn developed and presented the OH&S Risk Assessment Training and Employee OH&S Awareness Training packages that won the Department of Tourism, Parks, Heritage and the Arts the Gold Safety Training Award in the 2004 Workplace Safe Awards.

Martyn's previous industry expertise includes four years with manufacturing and heavy industry involving process control and the provision of comprehensive occupational hygiene, service and environmental monitoring.

Martyn also has five years experience with the Tasmanian government in the environmental management of the timber industry, managing the assessment of new projects. Martyn also provided SafetyMAP implementation, developed safety management systems, provided occupational hygiene services and facilitated the introduction of the control of hazardous substances regulations.
