Michael has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy). He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, he has a SafetyMAP Auditor Certificate, a Certificate in Neuro Linguistic Programming and is a Cert IV workplace trainer and assessor.

Michael is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and its Ergonomics and Occupational Health Group.

He has over seven years experience in clinical physiotherapy including rehabilitation, private practice, hydrotherapy, training and inpatient treatment.

Michael has also spent six years providing vocational rehabilitation services in Sydney and Tasmania including early intervention programs, claims management assistance, costed case management and redeployment services.

For the past ten years as a Consulting Physiotherapist, Michael has established a reputation for professional ergonomic assessments, innovative manual handling solutions, and practical injury prevention training (for management, supervisors and employees). Over the past 5 years he has developed quick and effective professional tools for pre-employment screening and analysing the inherent physical requirements of jobs. He has developed and delivered Diploma level training in Ergonomics and other OH&S subjects for TAFE and other Registered Training Organisations. Michael is also a lead Incident Investigator and Incident Investigation trainer.

Michael was the primary consultant for Workplace Standards Tasmania in developing the successful Body Strain Prevention Kit, a user-friendly manual on manual handling risk control. He was also instrumental in the ergonomic design of Tasmania Fire Services FireComm, which dramatically controlled overuse injuries and won IPM the second prize in the national Inside OH&S Award for 2001.
